Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Chrona uses cookies and similar browser technologies.
1. What cookies and browser storage are
Cookies are small text files stored by your browser. Similar technologies include localStorage, sessionStorage, and IndexedDB.
Chrona uses these technologies to provide authentication, security, preferences, and app functionality.
2. Cookies and storage Chrona uses
Chrona may use strictly necessary cookies.
These are required for the service to work.
Examples:
- CHRONA_SESSION - used for authentication and session management;
- security-related session data;
- CSRF or similar protection data where applicable.
- Without these, login and account features may not work.
- Chrona may use functional cookies and storage.
- These help Chrona remember preferences and operate the app.
- Examples:
- CHRONA_LOCALE - stores language/locale preference;
- cookie consent preference;
- UI preferences;
- local app state;
- i18n language settings.
- Chrona may use IndexedDB or similar browser storage to support local-first or offline-friendly functionality.
- This may include:
- world data;
- writing content;
- drafts;
- sync state;
- cached app data.
- Clearing browser data may remove locally stored Chrona content from that device.
3. Analytics and advertising
Chrona uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand page and service usage only when you opt in to Analytics Cookies.
The GA4 tag is not loaded before you grant analytics consent. If you choose Essential Only or withdraw analytics consent, Chrona does not send further analytics events from that browser unless you opt in again.
GA4 may set analytics cookies or identifiers and receive page, session, browser, device, network, and approximate location information. Chrona does not send your story, world, manuscript, screenplay, or other creative content to GA4 as analytics event data.
Chrona does not currently use Google Ads, AdSense, Meta Pixel, or advertising cookies.
4. Third-party technologies
Chrona may load or interact with third-party services such as:
- Cloudflare for security, edge protection, and Turnstile;
- Google Analytics 4, only after you opt in to Analytics Cookies;
- authentication providers if you choose to use them.
- These services may receive technical data such as your IP address and browser information as part of normal network requests.
5. Managing cookies
You can manage cookies through:
- Chrona's cookie consent banner, where available;
- Chrona's cookie preferences controls, which you can reopen to change or withdraw optional consent;
- your browser settings;
- clearing browser storage manually.
- Blocking all cookies may prevent login, account, and app features from working correctly.
